Cooking Chronicles: Sweet Tea

Delicious southern sweet tea, wanna give it a try !

Here begins a new segment of my cooking trials and triumphs! I decided to start with something easy that I’ve always wanted to try and sweet tea came to mind.

I’ve heard that sweet tea is a very popular drink in the southern United States, so popular to almost be considered addictive! Well it definitely lives up to its name, the dentist will be getting a call this week.

Here’s how it turned out…

All I’m going to say is that I have new love for sweet tea and so does my fiancĂ©. This will definitely be something we make for guests during summer BBQs.

I used 6 black tea bags (4 were lemon ginger flavoured which was perfect for this drink!)

1/8th tsp baking soda

2 cups boiling water

1 1/2 cups sugar

6 cups cold water

In a large measuring cup, place Tea bags and add baking soda

Pour boiling water over tea bags. Cover and steep for 15min

When done take out tea bags, DO NOT SQUEEZE THEM!

Pour tea mixture into pitcher, add the sugar

Stir the sugar until it’s dissolved

Add cold water

Let cool; chill in refrigerator and serve over ice !

And there you have it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Leave a comment on what you think.
