Dieting Diaries: Fasting 16/8

Tired of diets that restrict what you eat? Have you thought about Fasting? Well this is was my experience with it.

So dieting is hard, I’ve tried it multiple times and it never works the way you want. However, that never stops any of us from trying something new and hoping for the best! Well, I’ve been hearing a lot about fasting lately and how it’s a great way to reset your body and lose weight. So I decided to try it for a week.

I implemented the 16/8 fasting method into my daily schedule. Between 7pm and 11am (16 hours) I Fasted. No eating just water, Tea and occasionally club soda. I tend to drink 3 cups of tea a day which is great for hydration and just my personal preference for energy boosting.

Between 11am and 7pm was the 8-hour window I could eat. I tried to be responsible with my food choices, but I wasn’t going to avoid things or go out of my way to not eat junk. I even made a point of starting off with a light snack, tried to stick to 1 meal and end with either another snack or large vegetable/fruit plate (maybe including 1 treat).

Now, this doesn’t seem very bad and it wasn’t. In fact, it was incredibly doable! I enjoyed every moment of this past week, I didn’t feel exceedingly deprived or constantly wanting and craving things I couldn’t have and I noted a big difference in my overall physicality and even some weight loss.

Monday through Wednesday was the hardest because I was so used to waking up in the morning and making breakfast. It was hard to wait until early afternoon to eat something, and I was so used to snacking before bed or having late meals that I really struggled with hunger the first couple days.

After those first few days of struggling, I found a huge amazing difference in the sense that I felt overall lighter (not weighed down by food) and healthier. My appetite began to shrink in a sense, and I noticed was sleeping better and had more energy. Honestly, it was like a night and day difference in how I was acting and feeling. I’ve even noticed some slimming down in certain areas of my body (not the obvious areas I was hoping), which made me feel great!

So here’s what you need to know. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS! Just figure out the 8 hours that would work for you to eat and the 16 hours you’ll fast and plan out your day according to that window of time you can eat.
